Who is responsible
This website is operated by Phillip Marsland (trading as Digital Insomnia / Phillip Marsland Photography), Lowestoft, Suffolk, United Kingdom. For any data protection matter, contact contact@digitalinsomnia.co.uk.
The law this site follows
This site complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 ("the DPA"). Those rules apply to "personal data" — information that identifies a living person.
What personal data is collected
By this website: essentially none. There are no accounts, no comment forms, no analytics scripts, no advertising and no third-party trackers. The site stores no personal data about visitors.
- Email — if you email the contact address, your email address and message are processed solely to reply to you (lawful basis: legitimate interests / consent, depending on the nature of your enquiry).
- Social media — interactions on the linked Facebook or Instagram pages are governed by those platforms' own privacy policies; they are not collected by this website.
- Server logs — the hosting provider may keep standard technical access logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. These are not used to identify visitors and are retained only for a short period.
Photographs of people
Some images on this site may include people captured in public spaces. Where the DPA applies to such images, they are processed in the course of journalism / artistic photography and published with respect for the reasonable expectations of those photographed. Any person who wishes an image in which they appear to be reviewed or removed may contact the address above and it will be dealt with promptly.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the DPA you have rights over personal data, including the right to:
- ask whether any personal data about you is being processed;
- request a copy of it (access);
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data erased in certain circumstances ("right to be forgotten");
- object to processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@digitalinsomnia.co.uk. Requests are answered within one month as required by law. If you are unhappy with the outcome you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Data security & retention
Any personal correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted. No personal data is sold, rented or shared with third parties. Enquiries are not added to marketing lists.

Details of the strictly necessary local storage this site uses are in the Cookie Policy.
